Piece: Spareroom Door
SANDY STRUYKE
Keeping
in mind this year’s country/backyard theme, Sandy wanted to create
an interesting piece by bringing the outdoors in. Spareroom Door creates
an interesting focal point which transforms into a distinctive piece
and adds a touch of style to any country home. As well, it is a convenient
resting and storage space for your welcomed guests.
Spareroom
Door comes complete with comforter, pillow and sham, sheet set, pillowcase,
bedskirt and decorative pillow. This is Sandy’s third year participating
in “a chair affair”, and we are so glad she is back with
us again this year.

Marilyn
Menzies
Pink Toolbox Design Company is one of the most recent and dynamic small
businesses to roll off the entrepreneurial assembly line in London.
The brainchild of designer Deanna Callon, she creates wow! living spaces
for under $1000.00 and has been referred to as the Canadian version
of Trading Spaces.
Deanna
has been creating these fantastic budget conscious rooms for several
years but only recently took the plunge and left her job to pursue her
artistic venture on a full-time basis. With a business diploma and a
diploma in Design from a private school in Toronto Deanna feels she
is finally putting her education, creativity and imagination to work.
Currently
she divides her time consulting with clients, preparing apartments for
new tenants, and scouting out old furniture to recover - much like the
chair she recovered for the Chairity Event 2003. For this piece “Monkeys
in a Tree” she wanted whimsical, but not childish. This chair
would work well in a child’s room but is sophisticated enough
to find its place in a hallway or entranceway.

She hopes someone will be able to enjoy this little bench.

Jean Chapple
“Garden Party”
Jean has been painting furniture, murals and paint finishes for about
9 years, both in private homes and commercial businesses. Some of her
work can be found at Jennings Furniture in St. Thomas and at Artistix
in London. This is Jean’s 3rd year in the Chairity Eent. Also,
thanks to the people of Jennings for helping to construct the chair.
Original
pattern purchased from Winfield Collection. Liz started out painting
ceramics for four years and then decided to venture into Decorative
Painting and has been for eight years. She has been a member of the
Forest City Decorative Artists for four years and enjoys painting when
her busy schedule allows her to do so.
Liz’s
birdbath/feeder is brightly coloured and stands approximately three
feet high. A ceramic dish completes the centre of the sunflower and
can be used as either a bird feeder or bath. It would be a very special
addition to a garden!

Piece:
Noah’s Ark Rocking Chair and Quilt Rack
The
timeless tale of Noah’s Ark continues to attract our imaginations
and has inspired artists for hundreds of years ……
This chair was designed for a nursery or child’s room and the
four larger animals are hand puppets which can provide hours of pleasure
for creative young minds. A quilt rack and matching quilt makes this
entry a “must have” as a beautiful matching set for both
adults and children to enjoy.

The Cushion on Pew by Ellen M. Brown Upholstery
This
bench was inspired by the hockey memorabilia collection of Brian Logie,
a teacher at Thames Secondary and hockey historian. Scanned images of
his London Knights collection have been decoupaged onto the wooden slats,
which have been painted in the Knight’s colours. Skate blades
adorn the legs and hockey sticks run up the sides.
